Quick answerFrom Bihar, fly from Patna, Gaya or Darbhanga via Delhi to Srinagar (Delhi–Srinagar is about 1.5 hours). On a budget, take a train towards Jammu Tawi or Katra and continue by Vande Bharat. Plan 6 nights. Summer and the Chhath–Diwali break are popular.
From the banks of the Ganga to the shores of Dal Lake: Bihari families increasingly choose Kashmir for their big holiday, and the improved rail link to Srinagar has made the budget option much easier.
Getting there

| 2 | Pahalgam |
| 1 | Gulmarg |
| 1 | Srinagar |
Costs
About ₹14,000–21,000 per person on a budget and ₹24,000–42,000 mid-range for 6 nights, excluding travel to Srinagar. Train travel keeps the overall budget lower.
Train or flight: which suits your family?
Flying via Delhi gets you from Patna to Dal Lake in a day. The train is slower but cheaper, and many Bihari families like the journey itself: you can carry home food, and the final Katra–Srinagar stretch through the mountains is spectacular. If you take the train, book the Vande Bharat leg separately and keep a few hours of buffer at Katra in case the long-distance train runs late.
