Quick answerFrom Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad or Ghaziabad, fly from Delhi's IGI airport to Srinagar (about 1.5 hours). Gurugram is the closest to IGI (often 30–45 minutes); Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad usually take 1–1.5 hours. A 4-night long weekend covers Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam; a mid-range land package costs about ₹17,000–28,000 per person, plus flights.
NCR professionals have a superpower most of India does not: Srinagar is closer in flying time than the drive from Gurugram to Noida at 6 pm on a Friday. Book an evening flight, leave the laptop in the office (or at least close it), and you can be watching the sun rise over Dal Lake the next morning.
Getting to the airport from each NCR city
Almost all Srinagar flights from the region leave from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). Travel times below are typical; Friday evening traffic can add an hour.
From Gurugram
- By road: about 15–20 km to IGI, usually 30–45 minutes outside rush hour.
- By metro: the Yellow Line into Delhi connects to the Airport Express Line.
- Best for: after-work flights; Gurugram has the easiest airport run in NCR.
From Noida and Greater Noida
- By road: about 35–45 km to IGI, often 1–1.5 hours.
- By metro: the Blue Line towards central Delhi connects to the Airport Express Line.
- Noida International Airport (Jewar): opened in 2026; Srinagar has been mentioned as a planned route, but check airlines for whether it is operating before you book.
From Faridabad
- By road: about 35–45 km to IGI, usually 1–1.5 hours via the Mehrauli–Badarpur road or the expressways.
- By metro: the Violet Line into Delhi, then change for the Airport Express Line.
- By train: Hazrat Nizamuddin station is close for trains towards Jammu and Katra.
From Ghaziabad
- By road: about 45–50 km to IGI, typically 1–1.5 hours.
- By metro: the Red or Blue Line into Delhi, then the Airport Express Line.
- By train: Anand Vihar and New Delhi stations serve trains heading north.
Train option: New Delhi to Katra, then Srinagar
Prefer the rails? Trains run from New Delhi towards Katra, including Vande Bharat services, and the Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat takes about 3 hours through the mountains. It is slower than flying but a lovely journey, and it lets you add a Vaishno Devi darshan. See our how to reach Kashmir guide.
The Friday-evening getaway: a 4-night long weekend
| Day | Plan | Overnight |
|---|---|---|
| Fri evening | Evening flight from IGI; transfer to a houseboat | Srinagar houseboat |
| Sat | Sunrise shikara, Mughal gardens, old city | Srinagar |
| Sun | Gulmarg day trip and the Gondola | Srinagar |
| Mon | Drive to Pahalgam, Aru and Betaab valleys | Pahalgam |
| Tue | Back to Srinagar airport, afternoon flight to Delhi | - |
Take Monday off and you have a proper break for two days of leave. Want a slower version? Our 5 nights 6 days plan adds a second Pahalgam night.
Best times for NCR travellers
- May–June: escape NCR's 45°C heat and the worst of the dust. The busiest months, so book flights early.
- October–November: golden chinars and clear skies, just as Delhi's air quality starts to worsen.
- December–February: snow in Gulmarg, and a long-weekend snow trip is easier from Delhi than from anywhere else in India.
What it costs
| Style | 4-night land package per person |
|---|---|
| Budget | ₹10,000–15,000 |
| Mid-range | ₹17,000–28,000 |
| Luxury | ₹36,000 and up |
Add return flights from Delhi, which rise sharply on long weekends and in May–June. Land costs assume two sharing, breakfast and dinner and a private cab. See the full cost guide.
Tip: Long weekends are when everyone in NCR has the same idea. Book flights as soon as the holiday calendar is out, and pick a Srinagar return flight after 2 pm so you are not racing back from Pahalgam at dawn.
